In my family, we love everything Disney. We are Disney Vacation Club members. We listen to Disney pop music, Disney Christmas music, and sing aloud Disney songs that correspond with their theme park rides. We decorate the holidays with Mickey-inspired décor. We make pancakes with mouse ears, whistle while we work, and love the joy that the parks bring us. My husband and I have the last two years of the Very Merry Christmas Parade on our TiVo, and when it's been a long day, watching the christmas parade with Nick Cannon and Mariah Carey overjoyed with holiday spirit cheers me up.
Although my Disney love strays back much further than this, one of the best experiences I have ever had is participating in the Disney College Program internship when I was nineteen. Almost ten years later I have best friends from all around the world from those five short months. As Halloween approaches quickly, my mind begins to wonder back to a wonderful night with friends at the "Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party".
This party is held of select nights through the months of September and October. It is a great way to exemplify all of your children’s (or adult’s) dreams and desires for enjoying some Disney magic with the spooky season of Halloween. The admission to get in is separate from an everyday ticket. My suggestion is to attend on a beach day, or a lazy day around the pool…head to an early dinner, late lunch, and then decorate yourself and your children up for a night of trick-or-treating. Ensure that your child’s costume is non-constricting, allowing them to still move around easily and freely among the park so that the night is enjoyable for all!
One of the best things about the event is the unusual opportunities that guests get during this time. Want to take pictures with your favorite villains? Cannot wait to see more of the Hitchhiking Ghosts from The Haunted Mansion ride? Always wanted to dance to spooky music under the lights of the castle? This is a perfect place for you!
Each year, they provide trick-or-treating down Main Street in front of the castle and a special fireworks display and parade for the evening. It is such a sight to see and another special thing that Disney does that many travelers do not know about.
Do you have your own Disney Halloween experience? Please let me know. I would love to hear about it!
