After many nights of making tacos and watching a nice little episode of The Chew on ABC, I have come to realize the amount of money my family has been wasting on taco seasoning. Yes, it is easy just to open up a $0.99 pack of taco deliciousness…however, making your own seasoning, especially in bulk, will save you money and still keep your time down. It took a lot of time to perfect the right amount of spice; however, this recipe is ideal. Just a bit of kick, just a bit of salty. We love it!
Staples that you may already have in your kitchen:
•1 1/4 tbs chili powder
•3/4 tbs ground cumin
•1/2 tbs paprika
•1/2 tbs dried oregano
•1/2 tbs garlic salt
•1/2 tbs onion salt
•1/2 tbs crushed red pepper flakes
Instructions
1. Gather all your ingredients and mix in a small container.
2. Shake or stir.
3. Package for later use if needed.
We use all of this on about one pound of ground beef, but if it is too much for you, about ¾ of the mixture would do as well. (We like a lot of seasoning.) If you are making some in bulk for later uses as well, 4 ½ tablespoons of the mixture for a pound of beef is ideal.
Do you have any variations of taco seasonings as well?
