With white tablecloths on each of our guest tables, I wanted something to contrast the centerpieces. I knew since I was a little kid that I wanted daisies in my wedding. Conveniently, daisies, billie balls, and other white and white flowers have been in style these past few years and most are extremely cheap. My florist actually had made the comment that not only were my favorite flowers super inexpensive, but some were actually considered weeds!
Milk glass vases were perfect for my style of wedding. They could easily be found at antique stores, it did not matter if they matched, and they were so cheap we could easily place multiples on a table. We averaged most for as cheap as $1 a piece! The conflict was the white milk glass on the white tablecloth with possibly some white flowers. My colors were grey and yellow...not white.
I had found a picture on Pinterest early in my wedding planning days with milk glasses, daisies, and fabric squares. So I quickly tried to figure out home to mimic it. Each fabric store I went to, I became more discouraged. All of the fabric looked too country, or too fancy, or too silky. I couldn’t find anything to work. Then I was struck with the idea to use burlap, colored burlap. A week later rolls upon rolls of burlap showed up at my parents’ house. Squares were cut and laid everywhere, on our guests’ tables, on the head table, on the food table, on the cake table, everywhere. The abundance of the burlap squares helped the theme of yellow and rustic continue to spread throughout the reception hall. I loved how our centerpieces turned out!
