wedding :: fabric table runner

Day two of wedding week! For me, Table skirting was simply an afterthought. When it came down to the weeks before the wedding, I assumed I had everything thought out. Centerpieces were designed months prior. The logistics of the soda, the food, the walls, the table placement, everything was determined. Nobody talks about what tablecloths to use unless it is something that had to be decided with the venue. This was definitely something we somehow missed. The idea of having an option that was "other-than-white" was not even something that crossed my mine. White tablecloths came with the venue. Done, right?!

Then it hit me, a white tablecloth on my head table?! Our feet sticking out the front?! Nothing more for the gift table or the cake table?! Like any normal bride-to-be, I panicked. I had my mom contact the reception hall and determine how big were these white tablecloths that I was oh-so-okay with months prior. They were indeed too small; however, we could attach two together to hide our feet and cover the space. The more I thought about it though, a plain white tablecloth? How boring!

My solution? Fabric table skirts. Two inch wide fabric strips, cut by hand...tie in knots to a thick twine...attached to the side of the table by safety pins. This is no small craft, especially when in regards to time; however, I loved, loved, loved my table skirt. Overall we probably spent about $30 in fabric (with coupons and strategic buying) and three full evenings of work for three people. It was worth it. We even made one for the cake table as well. I think it made the front of our head table just perfect. What do you think?
