It is wedding week over here at hbfotographie! With spring (and wedding season) quickly approaching us, I wanted to spend some time sharing some of my favorites from our wedding.
I am not going to lie and say that the crafting part of my wedding was fun. It wasn’t. I made too many Pinterest decisions and had a shorter timeline than expected to fulfill my wishes. At the end of the my work day, there was nothing in me that wanted to stamp table numbers, design invitations, or cut burlap. But I enjoy working with my hands and designing; and, because it was my wedding, I was uber-meticulous about everything. I knew that I could save money, and make sure it was the way I dreamt about it I did it myself...
Post-wedding thoughts makes me wonder why I cared so much about assigning seats and escort cards. I knew that I would have a crowd of people that were mixed friendships, who would get along, but not naturally sit with one another. Additionally, we had divorced families on both sides to keep modestly "separated". It wasn’t necessarily because of divorce drama (which I know families have) but more to keep the awkwardness away.
I struggled with coming up with an idea on how to display my seating arrangements. Of course, I despise my handwriting and knew that anything regarding a chalkboard or glass window pane would probably not be okay. I would nit-pick each individual letter and line to ensure that the sizes of the writing were the same throughout and the lines were even and straight. After some thought and design alteration to a friend’s idea, I came up with my pallet-like structure to hold my escort cards.
The structure itself is merely some 2” x 4”s nailed together and painted. Industrial screws hold the rope in place for the escort cards to hang. The escort cards were purchased off of Etsy as plain yellow gift tags. With the addition of some scrapbook paper and a handwritten name, the tags were complete. We attached the cards with some spray paint clothes pins and extra fabric (from all the other wedding crafts) and screwed in the chalkboard for the top!
