It's sunny and almost nearing 50 degrees. It's such a good Friday everyone. Today I’m covering my top five first trimester must-haves. I’ll share with you my second trimester essentials soon, and as I enter my third trimester, I will share all the things you need to survive your last months pregnant. Now let’s get started.
Water intake is an important part of any pregnancy. I know this. However, there is a crystal clear difference in my daily water intake from the days that I have my CamelBak by my side and those days that I do not. I carry this thing everywhere and it really helps me stay on track and keeping hydrated for me and the baby.
I feel like pre-pregnancy I was living underneath a cave and never knew this thing existed; however, my Snoogle is the most important must have of my ENTIRE pregnancy. I have actually warned my husband that I may never give it up, even after the baby is here. I am a back sleeper and I have continuous back problems. From the moment that I heard I should not be sleeping on my side anymore, I knew I would need something. It supports my back so much and makes everything more comfortable at night. Originally I was going to hold off in buying one, just don't. You will use it your entire pregnancy so you must as well buy it early and get the most use.
3. Peppermint
Many gals struggle through their first trimester with sickness. Fortunately, I did not. I did however have moments of morning sickness and an uneasy stomach. Peppermint got me through! I recommend drinking peppermint tea (caffeine free) to help even the slightest uneasiness. I also kept my Young Living Peppermint Essential Oil on my end table in the living room to diffuse for an extra aid.
4. Hand Weights
Even before my pregnancy, I knew my upper body strength was weak. I invested in some hand weights to add into my home workout routine, knowing that as a pregnant gal, I would probably not end up in the middle of a bunch of grunting muscle heads at Gold's Gym toning my biceps. I enjoy the gym and working out still halfway through my pregnancy; however, some home workout essentials to help me stick with my routine when I did not have much energy or it was freezing cold outside.
One of the best things that happened to me during my first trimester was the "permission" to go out and buy some maternity jeans. Although I can still (uncomfortably) fit in my normal jeans at 20 weeks, I just felt more comfy and less fat in my maternity jeans by week 10. Seriously, I felt as if it was "too early" to go out and snag a good pair that made me feel "normal". Such a great investment, even early on.
