How did you get your shop started?
I started my shop after a lot pf encouragement from my husband and friends.
What is the hardest part of owning a shop?
The hardest part about owning my online shops is that I also have a full time "day job". Because of this I spend 40 hours a week at my day job and then come home and work on orders. Separating work time from personal time is tough but I'm working through it and my huns is VERY supportive. 🙂
What is one thing unique about you?
I was diagnosed with Scoliosis before I was a teenager. When I was 15 I had surgery on my spine where they put two steel rods in my back to straighten my spine! I used to be embarrassed about my back...but as I got older I realized that it made me unique and my scar is a battle scar!
What is the best part of owning a shop?
Knowing that something that I make can provide joy to someone else. I get a kick out of thinking about the pillow covers or signs that I make displayed in peoples' homes that I've never met. I think it would be funny to walk into someones house and see one of my creations!
How did you get your shop name?
I came up with my shop name while trying to describe the style of my products. "Rustic on Purpose" didn't really roll off the tongue so I landed on "Rustic Home By Design".
What is one way that you keep organized?
My husband really helps me stay organized by letting me do the creating and he does the shipping and packaging. He is a great partner!!
How do you balance family life and work life?
I am still struggling with that right now; it's hard I'm not going to lie, but I do have a deal with my husband that I have a cut off time every night and we try to devote at least one weekend day to doing something together.
