Thank you, Moose and Goose Studio, for sponsoring this post, part of the 2016 Shop Small Christmas series. I was selected for this opportunity by Moose and Goose Studio; the content and opinions expressed here are all my own.
Today I want to introduce you to Moose and Goose Studio.
This buffalo plaid security blanket makes the perfect lovely. Super soft red and black flannel on the front and black dotted minky, it is perfect for cuddles. Baby Ollie just loves his security blanket that Rachel made for us. He cuddles with it, chews on it, and it is easy to grab for him to play with. We also love playing peek-a-boo these days with it.

Here is a little bit more about Rachel, the owner of Moose and Goose Studio:
How did you get your shop started?
I started sewing as a little girl and I come from a long line of women who are skilled with a sewing machine. As I grew older my interest in sewing faded until I started having little ones of my own. I started sewing bandana bibs for my boy and everywhere we went people told me “You should sell those!” After some thought, prayer, and encouragement from others I decided to open my own Etsy Shop.
What is one thing unique about you?
One thing that makes me unique is that I’m an analytical creative. I’m a very type A, data driven person and don’t fit the traditional creative mold. I love to form new sets by seeing what is popular, then putting my own style and spin on it. If you look at my fabric combinations you will notice that all my sets very logically coordinated and not so much artistically thrown together.
What is the best part of owning a shop?
Getting feedback from an ecstatic customer! I love it when a mom sends me a message or a sweet picture of their babes using my products. It makes my heart happy to know that something I put time, care, and love into is happily being used by someone’s child.
How did you get your shop name?
I got my shop name from my own kid’s nicknames. My sweet, petite girl is one funny character and I commonly refer to her as a silly goose. My not so little hunk of a man, we like to call him Moose. He is sturdy and tough. My husband starting calling him moose one day and it stuck. Since my Etsy shop wouldn’t exist if it weren’t for my kids I wanted to include them in the name.
What is one way that you keep organized?
My biggest tool to stay organized is my planner, lists, and my “brain dump” sessions. I like to set aside 2-3 hours at the beginning of each month take all of my to-dos and put them on paper (old fashion, I know). It helps to bring to mind all of the detail of that month – products to buy and make, ideas to improve my shop, search for the perfect fabrics, and not to mention all the other responsibilities of running a household, caring for children, church commitments, etc. Once everything is “dumped’ onto paper, then I can effectively make categorized lists of things to tackle and create a timeline and goal for when to achieve them.
How do you balance family life and work life?
The hardest part about owning a shop to me is keeping work life and family life balanced. I am a stay-at-home mom that runs a shop in her “spare time”. I love being a mom AND I love being a shop owner so it is hard to not be pulled between the two, especially when both my kids and my shop are right at my finger tips at all time. One of the ways I keep the balance is to set boundaries with my time and be 100% present when I am working and when caring for my family. This is where prayerfully considering how I plan and spend my time each day helps me stay on track and focused on what is important.
