Managing the toy clutter when you are a one-year-old is no joke. I have been wondering if toy organization was even a real thing prior to pregnancy. I remember when Ollie was first born, people would say that the baby things take over your home and we were determined not to be those folks. We love our kiddo and we know he takes a lot of "things" to keep him moving, but we still want our house to look like a home and not a toy store. If you are not careful, before you know it you have a legit house full of baby stuff and toys. Anyone with me?
Luckily, we’ve got ample storage space for all of the baby stuff we’ve saved and I’m really good about going through the toys that become dust collectors and retire them to storage. The thing is, without a proper playroom on our main floor, and without proper organization, my living room can quickly get taken over with toys. We will have balls and books and blocks within moments of Ollie hitting our door after daycare.
As toys have crept into our home over the past year, and as Ollie has became more and more mobile, we have slowly transition some of our pieces in our main living space to suit our needs of an active toddler.
We love it. It is quick and easy to transition to an "adult space" once Ollie goes down in the evening and he has became more than capable of getting his own toys out to play when we are having some family time. We have books for him in the home wherever he is and his love for reading has grown tremendously over the past few months. We also noticed his need and want to have his own chair to sit in that was easy for him to relax. We luckily found a great deal on this one as an open-item and it matched our decor perfectly.

Overall, I can’t be happier. This space cleaned up so nicely all because of a simple piece of furniture that we already had and transitioned easily! I love that we can feel as though the space is family friendly without being completely overrun by toys.
