Thank you, Oh Wonderful Wood, for sponsoring this post, Lillie's Little Nursery. I was selected for this opportunity by Oh Wonderful Wood; the content and opinions expressed here are all my own.

I cannot believe that Lillie is already here. It seems like we waited forever and she arrived in perfect timing. We finished up the nursery a few weeks ago, and I was able to snap these photos of her room right before she came; however, with all of the activity of expecting and welcoming a new baby in the house, I have not been able to share them with you! If you follow me on Instagram, I am pretty sure you have seen a sneak peek or two of the nursery already, but I cannot wait to hear what you think of the whole thing.
I really had trouble with Lillie's nursery compared to when we designed and decorated Ollie's. With Ollie, I had a certain look I wanted for his room and could envision it from the start. This was definitely not the case when it came to our little girl. I knew aspects of what I wanted, like her bedding, pieces of decor, etc. but mainly I had been gathering bits or pieces for what felt like so long, I was honestly afraid that it wouldn't come together and would look like a bunch of colors threw up on one another.
Thankfully, that did not happen.
The only things that I knew from the start was that I wanted to be able to reuse pieces from Ollie's room (like his rocker and ottoman) to keep our costs down, have off-white or vanilla furniture, hunt down the "girl version" of Ollie's bedding from a 2016 Oh Joy! line from Target, and to incorporate this quote somewhere...
Here sleeps a girl with a head full of magical dreams, a heart full of wonder, and hands that will shape the world.
If I could dream up anything for Lillie's life, it would be this. A girl that is full of imagination and dreams -- pixie dust and sunshine if you may. One that can hope and see the world as an adventure and one not full of limitations and gender expectations. A little girl that loves to twirl in a cotton dress while running barefoot in the sand on a beach. A daughter that loves her math and science just as much as her dolls and glitter because she knows both being a mom and a world changer is important. A girl that will shape the world with every interaction, conversation, and impression she has.
And somehow I get all of that out of this quote.
So when I reached out to Oh, Wonderful Wood and discovered that she had family in my hometown along with some other very random conquincidences, I knew that a partnership with her was going to be special. And it most definitely has been. Each of her designs is handmade and made to order along with being hand cut, painted, and distressed personally by Oh, Wonderful Wood's owner, Taylor.
There are a handful of other personal touches that I wanted to make sure was included as well. I fell in love with this print from Coffee + Crumbs with its heart at loss and miscarriage and knew I wanted a bit of our little Ellie in miss Lillie's room. I also wanted to include a few scriptures from She Reads Truth as well as this Scrabble Letter Board from a local baby boutique that my husband found for me.
Beyond that, her nursery is full of a lot of repurposed items, like Ollie's old rocker and ottoman and the freshly painted doll house that I snagged off of Facebook Marketplace, and some IKEA furniture. But it is perfect. It is easily my new favorite room in the house and I cannot wait to spend literally the next year in there changing diapers, burping, feeding, and all the joys of taking care of a newborn.
At the heart of it all, my favorite piece is still the handmade design from Oh, Wonderful Wood. She's offering you 15% off to her store using the code "bahorichabode" and she has a ton of really adorable pieces for the nursery as well as all around your house. I would totally suggest checking her shop out for upcoming baby showers, bridal showers, Mother's Day, graduation, and beyond!
Here is a little bit more about Taylor, owner of Oh, Wonderful Wood:
How did you get your shop started?
I have been a stay at home mom for 4 years. So, one day I decided I wanted to do something that made me really happy but also allowed me to spend time with my kids. One thing that I love is decorating my home and DIY projects. So, I ran the idea of a small shop by my husband and he LOVED the idea. He knew I would be happy and he also looked forward to using his tools to help me and it also gave us something to do together. I knew that I wanted to make something that others would love and that would help people decorate their homes. Then my shop was born!
What is the hardest part of owning a shop?
The hardest part is definitely balance. This new year we knew that we had to come up with a better system to get work done but then also have time with our kids. So, now, we have set days that we do our work in a productive way.
What is the best part of owning a shop?
Hands down, being able to stay home with my kids and still earn money for my family. But, being able to help others decorate their homes and add to their story is a close second.
How did you get your shop name?
This was a hard one and I still am not always happy with my shop name. However, it’s what I started with and I think that’s important to remember where you started. Honestly, it was just made up from me adding “oh” in front of some of the things I say and having my shop being based around wood.
What is one way that you keep organized?
In a literal way, I keep organized by cleaning up after every work session! Knowing that my space is cleaned up and ready for the next day is so satisfying and makes me more productive.
How do you balance family life and work life?
As I said above, we still are working on this! But, with our new work system it’s much better now!
