Until ten weeks ago, one of the oldest furnishings we had in our house was our mattress in our master bedroom. Through buying a fixer upper and renovating our entire second floor with only weeks until Oliver's due date a few years back, we inherited a stuffy, pink mattress from a lady that was moving into a nursing home. It was everything that you think it might have been: stinky, well-loved, and hard as a rock. Unfortunately, free was the only thing in the budget and I spent that pregnancy (as well as my second pregnancy) on the floor or the couch... because both was far more comfortable.
Soon after Lillie was born, my husband had had enough. We are nearing the end of all of our renovations and with the lack of sleep you get from having a newborn in the home, Dusty just wanted a decent bed to sleep in. Even the quiet hours of the night, neither of us was getting any sleep due to how uncomfortable our mattress was. This lead to cranky parents and sore muscles everywhere. And honestly, we didn't.

First, our most important thing was having a mattress with coils, and this mattress has 6.3-inch, individually-encased, high-gauge steel coils that are sandwiched between two layers of base foam for premium, durable support. Our motion-isolating base is topped with more foam and finished with a layer of aloe vera transition foam and a 2-inch layer of memory foam infused with bamboo charcoal for superior comfort. Side note: It expands pretty quickly. Dusty and I watched a video in slow motion prior to opening it up and didn't anticipate this expansion as fast as it came. It made for a hilarious moment that I wish I could have caught on tape as we tried to figure out where to put this "growing" mattress.
We allowed it to expand fully for 48 hours prior to sleeping on it and man, that was hard. We could just tell from the start that we loved it! And we were right. This mattress is amazing. It is not too hard, not too soft... just right! I have not heard one complaint out of my husband and our sleep has been glorious even with an infant and a toddler in the house.
