Trying to conceive for a baby can be difficult. It can be hard. It can be downright frustrating. For those of you that have been around for a long time, you know that the Bahorich household has our own woes when it comes to trying to conceive.
With Ellie (our angel baby), we did not plan for her at all; yet, when it comes to trying for Ollie (our rainbow baby), we struggled greatly and spent nearly a year waiting for his conception. And then, with Lillie, she came a few months earlier than we expected! We did "all of the things" and three pregnancies later, I still do not quite understand my body.
This may be a bit too much details on a personal level and TMI; yet, I am as irregular as irregular can be. This makes predicting things like ovulation, conception, and just the day my period is suppose to start down right hard to figure out! That's why when I had the chance to try out SmileReader's Ovulation Test Kit, I jumped on the opportunity to learn more about my body.
Thank you, SmileReader Ovulation, for sponsoring this post, Simplifying TTC with SmileReader Ovulation Test Kit. I was selected for this opportunity by SmileReader Ovulation with collaboration of Moms Meet; the content and opinions expressed here are all my own.
Why Ovulation is Important
Let's get the elephant out of the room first. No, I'm not trying to conceive. No, we are not pregnant. No, we do not plan on any more pregnancies. After Lillie, we made a commitment as a married unit to say "no more pregnancies"... note, that didn't say "no more kids". Yet, we feel very full right now in the Bahorich home. We are open to adoption and fostering and whatnot maybe someday in the future. As of right now, the Bahorich family is full.
With that being said, I still thought it would be fascinating to learn more about my ovulation and body!
If you have ever used an ovulation test before, you know they can be super difficult to read, hard to understand, and down right complicated to determine if they are positive or not. After utilizing the SmileReader Ovulation strips and iPhone app, I quickly noticed how easy it was to confirm my LH peak and it took the guess work out of it.
The application is very helpful to help understand your results. Check out the video below for an idea of what to expect when navigating through the app and the process. This would have been so nice to have when we were trying to get pregnant with Ollie, and hold off on getting pregnant with Lille! There is so much that goes into conceiving. This would have been one less thing I would have had to worry about thanks to the app's simplicity.
Ovulation Apps vs. Ovulation Tests
As you can see in the photo, the app is really the key with it comes to the helpfulness of SmileReader. Yes, the tests are good in and of themselves, but the key is knowing when to test and how to read the results to ensure that you are understanding everything correctly.
Same with an application (an ol' app) -- they're great but they only can predict so much. For me, and with my irregularity, applications have a hard time predicting and predetermining my cycles even when months of data. Yet together with the tests and the apps, it takes so much of the guess work out of the process. How I wish I would have had this when we were trying to conceive or utilizing it for a more natural family planning approach and avoid conception!
