It is finally fall. Can I get an amen?
I feel like the anticipation for fall has been ever-lasting in this house. Do not get me wrong. We love our summertime. We actually live for those summer months full of sunshine, water, and heat. Nice, hot, midwest humid heat. I love it.
However, this fall was well anticipated. This is the first year that the house is remodeled enough to decorate for fall. With more margin in our lives this year, we are able to appreciate the rhythms of everybody going back to school and life slowing down. Slow enough to go on walks, breathe in the deep cool air, and spend mornings on the porch with a hot cup of coffee.
Of course, with baby Ollie around this year, we cannot help to think about the joyous times last year when we found out he was coming. In the midst of bonfires, chili cook offs, and fall festivals, we will definitely be spending some time in the upcoming month thinking about how awesome life is with him.
Preparing for fall with Ollie is another new adventure. Remembering the little things (like socks and pants) as the weather cools is kind of a big thing for our summer shoeless babe. I am quickly finding out that I have no idea what to do with a baby in these cooler months so I am responding like most moms... and only concerning myself with Halloween outfits, adorable Thanksgiving bibs, and dreams of sugar plums and holiday cards! The rest, we will take one day at a time.
