Thank you, Farm Fresh Felt Toys, for sponsoring this post, part of the 2017 Shop Small Spring series. I was selected for this opportunity by Farm Fresh Felt Toys; the content and opinions expressed here are all my own.
Looking for the perfect toy to put in an Easter basket? I was just at the grocery store looking at Easter items and was disappointed in most of the cheap toys that will likely break right away. However, Ollie and I have been playing with our set of eggs from Farm Fresh Felt Toys for days. Sensory play is always important to me and as Ollie gets older, I really want to provide him toys that really stimulates his imagination.
Thankful, the owner of Farm Fresh Felt Toys, Beth, really understands this as well. Her little Etsy shop is packed full of such adorable felt designs for your little gal or man to imagine the world. From cooking to camping, gardening, and beyond, these felt toys are just perfect, well made, and super affordable! If you are still looking for the perfect Easter basket item, order a set of their best selling pretend play eggs! These eggs are perfect for every basket and will provide hours of imaginative fun! They're the perfect addition to every play kitchen!
Also, great news! We are now hosting a giveaway for a set of felt eggs for your little one over on Instagram!! Hop on over to the my account to learn more about how you can enter through April 1st!
Here is a little bit more about Beth, the owner of Farm Fresh Felt Toys:
How did you get your shop started?
When my son received a play kitchen for Christmas, I started searching for pretend food to fill it. I was really unimpressed with all the cheap, plastic options. So I started creating my own. And I couldn't stop! 🙂 My friends encouraged me to open an Etsy shop, and I'm so glad I did.
What is the hardest part of owning a shop?
Never having a "day off" and managing every aspect of my company solo. I'm always catching up on orders, running to the fabric store, replying to messages, posting on social media, etc. Technically yes, I could just take a day off, but I like happy customers and I strive to get items shipped as quickly as possible. A few times a year, I do put my shop on vacation mode and take a week off. Much needed for me and my family!
What is one thing unique about you?
I'm actually a registered nurse turned full time seamstress/business owner. I stopped working as a nurse when our first son was born. I keep my license up to date, but I hope to continue creating toys as long as my kids are little.
What is the best part of owning a shop?
Creating new items and getting customer photos! I love seeing my toys being played with and seeing all the imaginative play happening! Creating new toys is so fun and exciting. My kiddos are my number one inspiration and are quite the little product developers.
How did you get your shop name?
I grew up on a farm in Iowa. It seemed totally fitting! Farm Fresh Felt Toys!
What is one way that you keep organized?
Lists! Lots of lists. I always have a running list in the "notes" section on my phone. Every single thing that needs to be done goes on that list (work related, house related, family related), as well as items I need to pick up at the store next time I'm out. It always feels great when I get to delete tasks/items from my list when their completed. But guess what...my list is never empty! Ha!
How do you balance family life and work life?
My husband is in his last year of an intense surgical residency, and we're 12 hours away from any family. Being a SAHM can feel very isolating and lonely at times, especially with a husband that's rarely home. This Etsy business of mine has been my creative outlet, and is the perfect balance. It allows me to interact with people I otherwise I wouldn't have the chance to. When my kids sleep, I sew. When they're playing happily together, I'm sitting watching them and hand sewing. It's the perfect job for me to do from home.
