Top Disney Underrated Attractions

It seems like I read an article a day about what to pack, what to see, and what to definitely not miss at Disney World. Inspired by my favorite Disney podcast, PassPorter's Moms podcast, and their recent show on their Top 5 Overlooked Attractions, I decided to comply my own.

On our most recent trip, my husband, Duston, and I went on some rides that he had never been on and one that I even hadn't in my years of park exploring! It gave me a new perspective of these rides and how lovely they truly are.

1) Tom Sawyer Island

This is a ride that if I have been on, I have no memory of it. Going to the parks since I was four, there is a small chance that I have had my chance on the adventure island; however, I will consider this my first trip. I truly cannot believe how cool it is! With lots of shade and plenty of exploring, we had a blast. We sat underneath the cool trees and played several games of checkers, followed by a moment in the rocking chairs by the water for a chat and snack, and explored in the caves. We will probably never miss a trip without a stop here again.

2) Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover

On the 10-minute tour of Tomorrowland, this ride is truly timeless. The name has changed over the years a handful of times; however, this emission-free mass transit system of the Tomorrowland is breezy, cool, comfortable, and neat. It actually goes into some of the rides in Tomorrowland, shows you a large diorama containing a portion of the "E.P.C.OT." model, and never has a wait! My best advice is that if Space Mountain is shut down for whatever reason -- immediately hop on the PeopleMover. Sometimes they will have the lights on in Space Mountain for whatever maintenance and you'll be able to see inside the coaster all lit up!

3) Innoventions

Technically considered a "museum" at Walt Disney World, Innoventions is located at Epcot and focuses on technological advancements and their practical applications in everyday life. This is quite possibly Duston's favorite place in the parks. There are a lot of neat "how does this work" and "why do things do that" exhibits that include a storm simulation, a design and ride your own 4D ride, an interactive media experience that demonstrates how people are making the world a safer, efficient, and more sustainable place, and more!

4) Carousel of Progress

My personal favorite is the Carousel of Progress. Typically, a zero to five minute wait, this ride takes you back through time and demonstrates the progress of each decade. It is a show moves through the seasons, holidays, and time highlighting the upgrades and conveniences of the times. With an air conditioned seat, the ride will help you get off your feet and enjoy what is known as one of Walt's favorite rides! Plus, you will get the most catchiest tune in your head for the afternoon of fun.

5) Boardwalk

I struggled with this last one, not necessarily sure how deeming The Boardwalk an attraction would hold in some households. But I really think it is one of the more underrated places on Disney property. A brewery, a game room, ESPN club, piano bar, dance hall, and one of my favorite pools all make this place on the top of my list. It is free to park, it is free to get in. There is a boat ride to Epcot or a short walk to Hollywood Studios. It has walkways to four other magical places to explore -- The Swan, The Dolphin, The Beach Club, and The Yacht Club. There is not much more that you can ask. Grab a park bench one evening, take in the atmosphere -- the giggles of the children watching the street performers to the smell of the boats and lake water -- and watch the Epcot fireworks, for free. It's an absolutely perfect Disney night.
