Thank you, Big Sky Traders, for sponsoring this post, Transitioning to a Toddler Bed with Big Sky Traders. I was selected for this opportunity by Big Sky Traders; the content and opinions expressed here are all my own.
Transitioning your little one from a crib to a bed can be scary for both parent and child. Although we aren't quite there yet with Ollie, we have slowly been allowing him to take naps in our bed as well as sleep in a low lying mattress at my parent's house when we go and visit. Ollie is just 20 months old, so we are not ready to give up the protection and "cage" that a crib provides but more and more there has been instances lately where we need some sort of something for the edge of the bed.
Since we haven't looked at transitioning necessarily his crib specifically, the standard and unattractive side rails did not fit the bill and we needed another option to keep her safe in bed, whether it was ours or on-the-go at grandma's house. However, I struggled to find something that was easy to lay on our bed during nap time or pack up easily that didn't take up a lot of room for when we travel. Over the holidays, it became really obvious that we needed some sort of solution but up until now, this is what our typical situation has been... a pile of pillows to safeguard our little boy.
Thankfully, Big Sky Traders' foam bed rails has created exactly what we needed! They are made of a non-toxic foam and have non-slip bottoms and sides to keep them in place. When you remove the foam rail from the box it is rolled up and compressed flat. You remove it from the packaging and allow it to sit in the open air for 1-2 hours for it to reach it's complete shape, just like a foam mattress. They come with a compression bag that allows you to roll them up and travel with them which makes it perfect to easily transport to grandma's house or while on vacation. It holds either one single rail with room for other items or two rails.
The rails can be used either on top of or under a sheet, depending on your preference, and they are easy to move when you need to clean the bedding or move around the house. They come with a removable cover that can be washed. We cannot be more thankful for Big Sky Traders' for helping up in this time of transition and honestly, we cannot wait to use this in Ollie's bed full-time once we transition his crib into a toddler bed. For now, it has been great for nap time and traveling, and it will continue to be such a great use as a permanent fixture underneath Ollie's sheets as he grows to be more independent in the months to come.
