The blogging community can be so great for a variety of different things. One of my favorite blogs that I have been following for years is Blush and Jelly. A post last year by her helped inspire today’s holiday craft.
If there is anything that Pinterest has taught us is that everything is better when you spray paint it gold. I always struggle to find holiday decorations for my house. If everything was done my way, our house would be a wonderful mimic of Clark Griswold’s iconic light display. In a small loft, however, not a lot of this is possible. I love adding a few touches here and there for some holiday charm.
Blush and Jelly featured her Christmas house village last year on her blog. Honestly, I have never had a love for Christmas villages. I like them in other people’s houses but always found myself in a situation where I would talk myself out of buying them. Most of them sit on a fine line of tacky and super old school and they usually just do not fit by style. Blush and Jelly, however, changed my mind.
These came from Wal-Mart at a $1.47 apiece. A quick spray with Metallic Gold spray paint and they became perfect! They look super shabby chic and trendy in my loft and I am in love with them.
What you will need:
-Ceramic Christmas Houses (I got mine at Wal-Mart for under $2)
-Primer Spray Paint
-Krylon Metallic Gold Spray Paint
1. I cleaned the ceramic houses with a damp rag then dried them.
2. Spray paint with primer so that the metallic paint will cover evenly.
3. Once primer is dry, spray paint about 2 coats on each house. Make sure to allow paint to dry between coats.
What is your favorite holiday décor in your house?
Keep checking back each day in between now and Christmas for more holiday ideas!
