30before30 thursday :: watch a Disney broadway play

If you haven't discovered yet, I am a huge Disney fan. I have spent hours in the past analyzing Disney World photography, read Walt Disney history books, and even made it a goal of mine to work there (which I did for over two years in college).

After living in Orlando, visiting California, and experiencing Disney in more ways than most... one of the last things that I had not managed was to attend a Disney play. Again, I have this artsy nature that allows me to appreciate theater and envy those that are able to get on stage and sing the correct note. When Lion King first came into St Louis in 2009, I knew that I had to see a Disney Broadway play. I still aspire to be in the audience of a play on Broadway in New York, but knowing that the opportunity was probably not going to happen in the next decade due to funds, a traveling Broadway musical was my best bet.

I missed the chance to see that 2009 showing of the Lion King for various reasons, and somehow skipped out on the 2010 Mary Poppins tour as well. Thankful for my fiance (now husband), he knew that it was a dream of mine and purchased tickets for the 2012 tour when they came back to St. Louis.

When Lion King first went to Broadway, Walt Disney World created a ride/show in their Orlando theme park that lasted for many years. Now resides the Philharmagic show in the same building. I believe that this ride helped me appreciate the experience even more. I remember being young and in awe of the costumes, music, and the human ability to replicate animal nature. The traveling Broadway show is not lacking in any of the attributes and was basically awesome.
