Going into my second breastfeeding journey, I feel like I have learned a lot about convenience and portability. So far, our little Lille has had major gas and reflux issues. This has definitely made breastfeeding a new adventure for us. Ollie was a fussy baby at first and had tons of gas during his first few weeks of his life; however, he was never a baby that spit up much. Lillie, on the hand, spits up a ton. We have spent the past three weeks on a routine rhythm of nursing, burping, spitting up, nursing some more, holding her upright, and finally napping. Once she awakes, she is more than likely deemed to spit up some more milk prior to eating again. Honestly, it is exhausting, and I am dishearten a bit each time I see my milk coming back up and onto her clothes, my clothes, and whatever else is around.
However, last week the reflux started decreasing more and more as we started using the Milk Boss by Itzy Ritzy. The Milk Boss is a unique feeding support pillow that helps a mom or dad angle a baby during a breast or bottle feeding to the perfect position. It can be used for breastfeeding, bottle feeding, burping, or simply for extra support. The special design helps babies be angled to aid in reducing the chance of reflux or gas (which is perfect for our little Lillie) and when a feeding is over, the Milk Boss acts as a resting place for Lillie while she's on her tummy getting burped.
The pillow itself is super soft and has a stylish pattern on it to match really any nursery decor. It is easy to store in our cube storage in our living room when not in use because it is much smaller than other feeding support pillows. We’ll certainly be using the Milk Boss from now on in our house. The old stress on the shoulder, arm and back when breastfeeding is hopefully a thing of the past. I’m now able to sit with my arm in the hole while Lillie chugs away at her milk and relax my whole body. The smaller size has been super convenient to move around the house, especially with a two story house, and we will definitely be able to travel with it to the grandparents' houses much easier over the summer.
